Success in Summit
Tad talks about his transition from Craig to Summit High School.
On Tad's visit to Craig the other day, he was enthusiastic about his experience as a freshman at Summit High School, but hard pressed to single out what he liked best. "It all seems so good, it's hard to pick out one thing." He has been studying more, has to do "lots of essays", and has more homework than he had at Craig. It must be paying off because he is getting A's and B's in all his subjects. When asked how Summit High differed from Craig, he said it was "huge" and more "diverse" in terms of academic choices. He is taking public speaking and introduction to theater this semester is addition to his regular courses. He also has a study skills course.
Tad, not surprisingly, is on the swimming team. He practices three hours a day, six days a week. Last year he was 15th in the state in the 13 and 14 age group. This year, however, he moves into the 15 plus age group so competition is a lot stiffer. To Tad, however, that just means continuing to develop his ability and working hard. When asked what he had learned from Craig, Tad talked about having developed a good work ethic.
