ATHLETICS

The Craig School offers competitive sports for grades 5-8 and sports clinics for grades 2-8. Our goal is to expose our children to a variety of sports and to give them an opportunity to learn and compete.

CO-ED SOCCER

Co-ed soccer is open to 5th graders. Opponents have included Gill St. Bernards, Montclair Kimberley Academy, Far Hills Country Day, Chatham Day School, Morristown Beard, Mt. Arlington, Harding, and Newark Academy.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Girls’ basketball players are drawn from the 5th through the 8th grades. After a few practices in December, the season begins in early January. Regular games are played against other schools in the area.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Boys Basketball is divided into Varsity (8th graders) and Junior Varsity (6th & 7th graders). After a few practices in December, the season begins in early January. In addition to a full season against a number of independent and public schools, the Varsity team play in the Morris County Basketball Tournament at the end of January.

CO-ED LACROSSE

The lacrosse season begins in March and all 5th graders, including girls, are welcome to join, with twice-weekly practice sessions. Opponents have included Gill St. Bernards, Montclair Kimberley Academy, Far Hills Country Day, Chatham Day School, Morristown Beard, Mt. Arlington, Harding, and Newark Academy.

FENCING

Intramural Fencing is offered twice a week in the fall for 8 sessions. The course is taught by Vladimir Lilov, founder and head coach of the Lilov Fencing Academy in New Jersey. Maestro Lilov’s young pupils have reached the finals of US tournaments and won Junior Olympic titles, a silver medal at the 2000 Junior World Championships, and a gold medal at the 2000 World Championships.

TENNIS

Our Intramural Tennis is offered twice a week in the spring for students grades 2-8. The clinic is meant to be an introduction to the sport and allow students to strengthen skills.

GOLF

Our Intramural Golf is offered twice a week in the spring for students grades 2-8. The clinic is meant to be an introduction to the sport and allow students to strengthen skills.
