Weeks of November 19th and 26th
This week’s CHIL will lead us into Thanksgiving Break and cover us for the next two weeks. We guess that means it might make sense to read it twice! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
CHS Alumni Spotlight
CHS Alum Mihir Jacinto Wraps Up First Semester at Pace University: CHS Class of 2018 member, Mihir Jacinto stopped by for a visit a couple weeks back to say hello and to share a little bit about his first semester at Pace University in NYC. He is taking 5 classes including a one-credit semester course on Intro to University Life which includes extra-curricular and civic engagements in the big city. Other classes include IT, College Math, College English, and System Analysis and Design. He commutes by train to the city each day. His advice to our current CHS students is to always ask for help and ask questions. He also says to try your best and if things get too stressful, take a break, and then go back to work.
CHS School Events
CHS Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences First Week in December: It is hard to believe that we are bringing up the month of December already! During the first week of December (W-Fr, Dec. 5-7), CHS will be hosting our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. For our new parents, you can choose a one-hour block in either the morning or afternoon and have the opportunity to visit classrooms for one-on-one conversations with your teen’s teachers. Days and Hour-Blocks to choose from are:
WEDS, Dec. 5th
THURS, Dec. 6th
FRI, Dec. 7th
To schedule a conference, you can email Mrs. Maas at DMaas@craigschool.org or call (973)334-1234 to set up your hour block window. Also, let Mrs. Maas know if you would like to also touch base with any of our CHS specialists (Mrs. Blount, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. DeSimone) during your conference block. For those parents whose schedule doesn’t allow you to attend, you also have the option of a phone conference. Let Mrs. Maas know this and provide her with a phone number and time within our conference blocks that teachers can touch base.
CHS Program Spotlights
CHS Students Take Part in 100,000 THANK YOUS to Our Troops: CHS Art Students (and even a handful of our Craig Middle School Shadow Guests) took part in the 2nd Annual “100,000 Thank You” Cards/Letters for our Troops sponsored by Military Missions who support and honor our deployed military personnel by sending care packages year round as an expression of appreciation and gratitude. The goal of this event is to create, collect and send 100,000 Thank You letters to our troops overseas during the month of November. Last year, they collected over 175,000 cards/letters to send to deployed service members overseas. CHS has added 40 cards to achieve that goal and to show our appreciation and support for our brave men and women who protect us and country.
Varsity Jacket Order Forms: Last week, we shared with students the opportunity and options to design their very own, one-of-kind CHS Varsity Jacket. Jackets range in price from $250-$285 and are truly the warmest coat they will ever own. Students can get a Varsity Jacket Order form in the student lounge or Mrs. Maas can email one to a parent upon request. Our goal is to have all orders placed right after Thanksgiving so that we will have our jackets in right around the New Year.
