A Craig School Tea Party

TeaThumb.jpg Lower School students hold a book publishing tea.

Each year the Phonics Department at the Lower School sets students the task of writing and illustrating an original story. A cover is designed for each story and the pages are sewn together just like a published book. The children first practice reading their "books" in class to their fellow students concentrating on improving reading rate, accuracy, expression and phrasing. After several such practice sessions, the parents are invited to a "book publishing tea." Each child reads the book to his or her parent(s) and the tea follows with plenty of accompanying refreshments!
