8th Graders Visit Baltimore
23 students participate in the traditional end-of-the-year 8th grade trip.
Leaving on Thursday, June 1st and returning on Saturday, June 3rd, the 8th grade students did the town this year in Baltimore. Highlights of the trip were the Baltimore Duck Tour and Cruise -- always a favorite. The students toured the harbour in old World War II boats and had a great time blowing duck whistles. At Fort McHenry Mr. Furlong challenged the students to move a cannon mounted on a track claiming that last year's class was able to push it a couple of inches. Mr. Furlong is always completely reliable, right???
The highlight of the tour (at least for baseball fans) was the Yankee - Orioles game. This year a parent donated the awesome seats near 3rd base in the lower tier -- no nosebleeds this year! Fortunately, the Yankees won 6 to 5! Other notable tours included the Civil War Museum, the B&O railroad, ESPN Zone, the National Aquarium where the dophin show was a hit, and the USS Constellation.
Mr. Blanchard, who helped chaperone the tour, was actually approached by another adult who complimented the students on how respectful and polite they were. Why aren't we surprised?!
