Jackals Join Craig
The New Jersey Jackal's team mascot entertained Craig students while the Jackals' "Hit the Books" program was explained.
On Friday, Feb. 9th, Brooke Kenna, a member of the New Jersey Jackals organization, and the team mascot visited lower school students during lunch time to promote the NJ Jackals' "Hit the Books" program.
The program is an incentive-based initiative designed to encourage students to excel in school. Each student receives a bookmark with pictures of four baseballs. Each teacher decides what assignments may be counted toward the contest and when that project or assignment has been completed, one of the baseballs is signed with the teacher's initials. Prizes are given for each baseball signed and when all four baseballs are signed, the student may choose from six Jackals home games. At each game, there is a "Hit the Books" parade on the field for all the winners.
This is the second year this program has been held at Craig under the direction of Ms. Imperatore. This year is even better than last year, according to Ms. Imperatore, because there are rewards for each baseball completed. The children don't have to wait until all four baseballs are signed. The program ends on May 11.
