Technology Updates

Chis thumb.jpgComputer technology at Craig leaps forward over the summer.

John Chismar, our Director of Technology, has worked tirelessly all summer to revamp our computer system. He installed Smart Boards, put in a complete network reconstruction and a file server for all the students' storage at the lower school, and replaced the content filtering system for the internet at both upper and lower schools. Imagine installing software upgrades on over 200 computers as well! A monumental task.

In addition, a Technology Task Force comprised of upper and lower school faculty brainstormed over the summer on how to improve computer services for both faculty and students. Some of work resulted in the following: a library of educational websites, more creative use of existing software (new ways to use Inspiration, for example), "tip sheets" for faculty & students of basic computer commands, uniform file storage for students, use of digital texts, and subject-based technology projects.

Pictured below is John's office while work was in progress. Where do you sit?

Getting Ready

mason thumb.jpgThe Craig Lower School is getting a face lift.

Much work has been done at Craig over the summer. The termite infested railroad ties at the Lower School have been removed and replaced with a far more attractive rock wall. The recess lunch area is also sporting a new wall and new landscaping will be the finished by opening day.
