Students trick-or-treating

Parent Information Luncheon

This parent information session is held at the beginning of the school year and offers parents the opportunity to learn about the school's special academic strategies.  Teachers give short presentations on assistive technology, Benchmark, the Landmark notebook system, Read Naturally, the social communication program, Project Read: Written Expression, and Orton-Gillingham strategies.

Back-to-School Night

During October all parents are invited to attend the classes their child attends during a regular school day. Teachers discuss curriculum and answer questions about class content.

Frost Valley

For three days and two nights, all 7th and 8th grade students attend a YMCA environmental education camp in Claryville, NY. This activity is chaperoned by teachers.

Halloween Party

A Halloween Party is held anually. The children bring their costumes to school and change just prior to the festivities.

Parent Conferences

Parent Conferences are held in November and April. Appointments are scheduled in advance.

Family Holiday Party

This party is a highlight of The Craig School. It is generally held on the first Friday night in December. Many alumni and their families also join the celebration.

Winter Ski Program

One day a week during the month of January, students are taken to the Hidden Valley Ski Resort for skiing during school hours. The first lesson, lift tickets, and transportation are provided by The Craig School. Any additional lessons and rentals are the responsibility of the parents.

Spring Benefit Auction

This event is the school's major fund raiser of the year and is planned by The Craig School Parents' Association (PACS). The auction typically involves the support and/or attendance of nearly all the present parents and many parents of past Craig students. Parents contribute ads for their children in the advertising journal.

Teacher Appreciation

During May, PACS organizes and hosts a luncheon, dinner, or breakfast for the teachers and staff.

Annual School Expo

The annual expo is held in the Spring. Students' exhibits are displayed and parents are invited. The themes for the expo are alternated from year to year and may emphasize science, social studies, or math projects.

Eighth Grade Trip

Each spring a special educational trip is planned for the 8th grade graduating class.

Field Day

During the last week of school, Field Day is held at Tourne Park in Boonton Township between 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM. This event includes food and fun. Parents are welcome to attend.

Graduation

Our traditional graduation ceremonies are held on the last day of school in the auditorium. Diplomas, awards, and the final Honor Roll are presented. Parents and relatives are invited. Light refreshments are served.

Field Trips and Assemblies

Field trips and assembly programs to enrich your child's school experience are planned each year. Permission slips with pertinent information will be sent home, as required, in the Communication Envelopes.
