At school, I want us to make sure that our messages are clear to students. It is an ongoing focus of mine. Being clear with our messages is not easy. As a parent, I find myself needing to think about my message to our daughter whose opinions are strong and sound. There are times of the year when emotions run high and decisions need to be made. This is one of them. It is also a time of gratitude and reflection. With both of those ‘actionable’ items, I think the message of slowing down and thinking about what is important to you is the right message for students and others. With the speed at which information comes at us, I wonder if an individual is able to slow down enough to express their gratitude and reflect on the situation or event in front of them. We know we should slow down to process. Are we doing that for our students and children?
