Computer Education

The computer education program, which emphasizes keyboarding, word-processing, and research is fully integrated into the curriculum. Spreadsheets, presentation software, and the internet are tools that all students learn to utilize. Computer skills are stressed in class and students are afforded time and access to the wireless laptop computers.

Graphing Calculators

This course is taught concurrently with Algebra I and II, both within the specific math classes as well as a separate scheduled period. Particular emphasis is placed on connecting math concepts through technology and providing a greater opportunity to focus on the problem solving component of mathematics.

 

Kurzweil 3000

This text-to-speech software allows struggling readers to hear printed text as it is being viewed.  The software also gives students the tools to highlight and annotate the text as it is displayed on a computer monitor.

Assistive Technology

Students who have difficulty with reading comprehension and/or written expression may use a variety of software tools including Write Out Loud, Inspiration and DraftBuilder.  Selected students who have considerable difficulty with the writing process may also be trained in the use of speech-to-text software.
