We hope you found our recent Parent-Teacher conferences insightful and informative. And a special thanks to all of our parents and PACS for the “trimester treats” that kept our students energized and satiated during their trimester exams. The outpouring was so great that we were able to offer both breakfast and mid-day snacks which will now become part of our annual trimester exam protocols!

9th grade students in Mrs. Brown’s Social Dynamics class have been focusing on time management. By playing a fun game developed by Mrs. Brown- Time Management Bingo, students have a variety of tasks on their game board. They have to write in their estimated time- or how long they think it will take them to complete the task. When it is their turn, they are timed doing each task- where they write in their actual time of completion on their game board. If they come pretty close (within 2-3 seconds) or just right, they cross out their box. This begins their bingo game to get four across. Over multiple class periods this game is played. Its a great way for the students to test their time management skills, build self awareness and get up and be actively involved in the class lesson. See a picture below of the game board we use.

High School Program Spotlight
Atomic Structure Study in Chemistry
In Mrs. Bhakta’s Chemistry class, the students are learning about atomic structure. Students were tasked with creating a visual representation of an element of their choice using M&M’s to represent the exact number of protons, neutrons, and electrons that would be found in their chosen element. Regular size M&M’s were used for the protons and neutrons since their mass size is similar and mini M&M’s were used for the electrons as they are smaller in comparison. And the best part is our students were able to say after it was graded that they actually ate their homework!

Student Common Clubs: Like most High Schools, Craig High offers student clubs. What makes our clubs a little different is that they are student suggested, student developed, and student run. Hence the name Common Clubs, finding something you have in common with others and joining together to create an opportunity to share that commonality and build something pretty cool together! Our spring club list is our most dynamic yet and includes Robotics, Gamer, Sports, Jewelry Making, Pickleball, Meditative Coloring, Craft, String, and Casino. Truly something for everyone. We will be holding our club fair this Thursday so we can start up our new clubs after Spring Break.
