Craig School New Jersey

HS Week Of March 8, 2021

Thinking we got our annual snow tubing Stepping Out right under the weather wire as 20 High School Students took to the snow tubing park at CampGaw in Mahwah last Wednesday.  To say it was a blast would be an understatement.  Check out the picture gallery for the documented proof!

Towards the end of March (W-Fr, March 24-26),  we will be hosting our Winter Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Similar to our December Conferences, you will have a choice of a one-hour block in either the morning or afternoon and the opportunity to Zoom with your teen’s teachers one-on-one.  Days and Hour-Blocks to choose from are:

WEDS, March 24th

THURS, March 25th

FRI, March 26th

To schedule a virtual conference, you can email Mrs. Maas at or call (973)334-1234. Once we have set our schedule, we will send you the necessary zoom links and specific times that you will follow during your conference block.  Also, let Mrs. Maas know if you would like to touch base with any of our specialists, Mrs. Blount, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. DeSimone (WEDS and FRI only), and we will do our best to schedule them right before or after your one hour PT block.

HS Student Spotlight

Class of 2021, Malya McHugh Heading to Centenary University

We are proud to share that 12th grader Malya McHugh has decided to attend Centenary University in the fall. Centenary is a liberal arts university located in Hackettstown, NJ and is well known across the country for a variety of its majors including Equine, Small Animal Studies (pre-vet-tech), Theater Arts, Education, Fashion,  and Communications (film, radio and print).

Malya had quite a few college options but ultimately decided that Centenary was the perfect fit for her and to quote her, “she felt safe and at home” on her visit.  Another aspect that factored into her decision was the Project ABLE program.  ABLE stands for “Academic Bridges to Learning Effectiveness” and is a comprehensive learning support program that “bridges'' the transition from the structure of HS to the predominantly independent self-directed college environment.  This progressive independence is accomplished through a student-centered success plan developed collaboratively with a Learning Support Specialist who a student meets with weekly.  There are also various support groups, tutors, and advisors built into the program as well. Mayla plans on majoring in education.  We look forward to following her adventures at Centenary!

See our happy Malya in our photo gallery!
