In this week's newsletter, the Class of 2022 makes headlines again with another college acceptance. This time around it is Blake and he brings a favorite college back into the fold, Misericordia University! We also celebrate an alumni update as a member of the Class of 2014 earns his BS from NJIT in Mechanical Engineering. And don’t forget to pencil in our Virtual Grad Panel which is scheduled to Zoom on Weds. Feb 16th at 11AM.
Also this week, seven of our students will be a part of the Global Citizenship Challenge, a live zoom where they will interact with other HS students from around the world. And finally, starting this week, we team up with Montville High School for a super creative annual event that connects the Super Bowl with a food drive. It gives us great pleasure to ask you to join us for the “Souper Bowl Soup Can Drive”! We will be collecting cans of soup all week to be donated to a local food pantry.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS
Senior Blake Accepted to Misericordia University: We are proud to announce that 12th Grader Blake has added another acceptance to Class of 2021 acceptance roster. Blake has been acceptanced to Misericordia University (https://www.misericordia.edu/). In addition to his acceptance, Blake has also been offered a merit scholarship to acknowledge his academic accomplishments.
Misericordia University is a private university located on a 123-acre campus in northeast Pennsylvania (Dallas, PA). It has 2500 enrolled students and a 10:1 teacher: student ratio. They offer 37-degree programs in three Academic Colleges: the College of Arts and Science, College of Health Science and Education, and College of Business.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Class of 2014 Alum Graduates NJIT: After the New Year, we were hit with an amazing blast from the past! Ggraduate and Class of 2014 alumni, Stefan received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology (www.njit.edu). Not only did he graduate from a school that ranks in the top 10 in the country for return on investment but he did it while holding a 3.7 GPA!
Stef had previously wrapped up his Associate's Degree in Engineering Sciences at the County College of Morris. He shared that instead of transferring right from CCM into NJIT, he decided to complete his Associates at CCM because their program covered subjects like electrical, aerospace engineering, and advanced physics that would not be included in a mechanical engineering degree at NJIT.
During his time at CCM, Stef created and ran a student ceramics club where they did everything from throwing a piece to firing it and glazing it. He was also involved with the National Society of Leadership and Success.
At NJIT, he joined the Concrete Canoe team where they worked with concrete mix designs to build various functioning canoes and yes, we had to look that up to better understand it as well! Stef also revived a dormant student club, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In addition to all of this, he held a part time gig at Michaels Arts and Craft store on the weekends. Rumor has it that a Masters Degree is next on his list of accomplishments and based on what we know about Stef, it will be happening. CSHS is proud of you,Stef!

We will be collecting cans of soups starting this Monday, February 7th all the way through the start of Super Bowl Weekend! The Montville High Key Club is calling it the “Souper Bowl of Caring: Help us Change the Game and Tackle Hunger!”. Let’s all be a part of the game plan and make a difference with our Montville neighbors. Collection boxes will be in the gym so students can drop off donations upon their morning arrival. Any questions, email our Director of College Counseling, Lindsey Skerker at LSkerker@craigschool.org
The Global Citizenship Student Conference: Thanks to one of our Craig Middle School Parents, the students of Craig High will have the opportunity to be a part of the upcoming Global Citizens Challenge (Global Citizenship Challenge 2022)! The Global Citizenship Challenge is an interactive conference experience where students virtually meet and work with other students from around the world. Our seven CSHS participants will gain skills in digital collaboration, social impact, and cross-cultural understanding while learning about career opportunities in tourism and hospitality from professionals in the field. And it will look awesome on their student resume and college applications!
On Thurs., Feb. 10th, our global student team led by our Director of College Counseling, Ms. Skerker, will attend a welcome session and orientation where they will learn what they can expect and hear more about the conference. Then on Friday, Feb. 11th, they will each join a “Penpal” session where students are broken into small groups to meet with other students from around the world. On Saturday and Sunday, they can join a variety of live and interactive leadership workshops and hear from travel leaders from Canada and the UK. It should be an amazing and enlightening experience!
JV Hoops Team 2022: The JV Basketball Team will be starting its winter season this week! The team is CO-ED, open to all students, and a great opportunity to improve fitness and basic basketball skills while being a part of a dynamic and supportive team. All practices will be held in Montville (24 Changebridge Road) at the new Gym from 3-4:30PM on the Tuesday dates below.
Practice Dates (Tuesday Afterschool Feb-March)
