HS Week of January 31st

THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

What do groundhogs, snow days, and the Super Bowl have in common?  That’s easy!  They are what makes February in the eyes of many the best month of the year.  Throw in a President’s Day weekend and the title of shortest month of the year and you have yourself a winning month!

Now take all of that and let’s add to the mix what will be unfolding  in February.  Basketball season starts up this week.  We will get bowling started later in the month, and we are starting to work on our annual afterschool snow tubing Stepping Out for the month's end.

Also, in mid February we will be hosting our Virtual Alumni Grad Panel where our graduates from a variety of awesome post-secondary locations will be sharing their insights into the college experience for students with learning disabilities.  Throw in 2nd trimester progress reports coming home and what you have is a pretty exciting month.

Stay tuned,

Dr. Cap

ATHLETICS

CSHS Freshman Excels on the Wrestling Mat:   Freshman Max is currently wrestling varsity for his public High School (Jefferson High School) and has amassed an impressive record of 9-2 to start this season including three victories by pin! For those of you who are not too familiar with high school wrestling, being 9-2 as a freshman wrestling against varsity upperclassmen is pretty special.   High School wrestling demands a lot of physical and mentally demanding hours and we couldn’t be any more proud of Max!

See Max in our gallery.

A Walk to Honor Janet M. Cozine

Thank you for participating in The Janet M. Cozine Fund.  We appreciate all of the gifts and messages received from our current families, alumni families, alumni, faculty, and staff.  Although we are well on our way towards raising the $265,000, there are still funds to be raised.

Please consider giving by using the donate button on this page.

You can also share our campaign mission with others.

https://www.craigschool.org/giving/janet-m-cozine-auditorium/ on social media, ask your company for a matching gift, or speak to others that may be interested in the Janet M. Cozine Auditorium.

Thank you again for your support of The Craig School.

IMPORTANT INFO

Designing Your Own HS Ring:  Last week, we held a Josten HS Ring presentation where students learned how to design their very own one-of-a-kind rings.  There is still time order (orders due by Thursday February 3rd).  To design your ring, here is what you do-

  • go to www.jostens.com
  • click on SHOP YOUR SCHOOL
  • enter Craig High School
  • choose the Boonton one (there are about ten Craig Highs across the country including Colorado, Wisconsin, and Alaska!)
  • Slide down to CLASS JEWELRY and click on SHOP
  • Click on CLASS RINGS (they also have Class Tags, Necklaces and Bracelets you can design)
  • Choose your Ring of Choice and start designing (Stone, side emblems, type of metal and finish, engraving, and email your finished design to yourself!

Rings start at $325 and can climb to $600 just to get started so be careful.  They can get more and more pricey based on what metal (gold, white gold) and accessories you choose (gems and diamonds).

Craig School Emergency Contact System:  The Craig School uses a multi-tiered communication system that provides to our families, the highest level of certainty that you are made aware of any change in the opening or closing status of Craig Lower Middle School and Craig High.  Our various communication tiers include:

  • Craig Notification Call System:  The Craig Notification call is a voice activated system so you need to say HELLO once and allow the system to activate.  If you say HELLO followed by another HELLO in rapid succession, the system will not activate and not start the recorded message.  If you are unable to take the call, it will leave a message.
  • School Email Blast:  We will send out an email blast to all of our families and students.  Keep in mind that emails are dependent on the internet so if that’s down, so are emails.
  • Text  Dr. Cap:  As a last resort to check school status, you can always text Dr. Cap at (973)534-9054.
