NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

Last week’s  Halloween Bash is in the books and it was truly one of our greatest ever!  We trick-or-treated in our hallways at day's end, ate a ton of candy, cookies, and chips thanks to our generous parents, crowned the Great Pumpkin 2021, and announced our costume contest winners.

We would like to congratulate this year's Great Pumpkin winners:

  • 1st Place: Blake with his “Recurring Nightmare” Pumpkin

  • 2nd Place: CJ with his “Eye See You” Pumpkin

  • 3rd Place: Nicole with her “Spooky” Pumpkin

And a Great Big Pumpkin thank you to Ms. Bank, Ms. Crum, and Ms. Gallagher for sharing their creativity and pumpkin skills in this year’s Great Pumpkin display.

And now our Costume Contest Winners for this year:

COMMUNITY NEWS

Global Teacher-to-Teacher Exchange: The Craig School and GD Goenka World School located in Sohna, a city outside of New Delhi, India, gathered a small group of teachers and administrators via Zoom to exchange ideas on the shifts in education seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Topics focused on student emotional well-being in this new era of education. It was evident that even though GD Goenka and The Craig School are on opposite sides of the globe and each school’s mission is very different, so much of what we are seeing in the classroom is the same, such as the awareness of building relationships with students and families to foster learning and tuning into the social and emotional well-being of students. The two schools plan on continuing this exchange throughout the school year through facilitated dialogue and teacher training opportunities.

ATHLETICS

Badger Afterschool Intramural Soccer League Begins First Week in November:  Indoor soccer is back! We have enough interest to make this official. Our intramural season will begin the first week in November and run through Thanksgiving, is CO-ED, open to all high school students, and a great opportunity to improve basic soccer skills in game like situations while being a part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Our season will include afterschool practices from 3-4:30PM on the following TUES in November:

  • November 9
  • November 16
  • November 23

We are hoping to coordinate a game or two with another HS before we break for Thanksgiving.

DEVELOPMENT

THE CRAIG SCHOOL ANNUAL FUND

The Annual Fund helps to make up the difference between the cost of tuition and the cost of educating each Craig student. We use donations raised through the Annual Fund to not only provide the very best educational program for our students but also do many incredible things on campus that your tuition dollars don’t cover such as:

  •       The implementation of a more robust music and drama program on the Lower School campus
  •       Enhance our signature program, Orton Gillingham
  •       Hire additional faculty
  •       Provide advanced teacher training

WHO DONATES TO THE ANNUAL FUND?

Everyone! All constituencies are encouraged to participate (faculty, staff, parents, alumni, friends, grandparents, foundations, corporations) at whatever financial level they feel is appropriate. Historically, 100% of faculty and staff donate to the Annual Fund each year.

HOW CAN I DONATE TO THE ANNUAL FUND?

  •       Write a check to The Craig School
  •       Pledge to give to The Craig School by June 30, 2022, by emailing Katie Burke at kburke@craigschool.org
  •       Donate to The Craig School via PayPal https://www.craigschool.org/giving/annual-fund/
  •       MATCHING GIFTS:  Many companies will match some or all of an employee’s charitable contribution. Once you donate, check here https://ww2.matchinggifts.com/craigschool to see if your employer has a matching gift program. You may obtain a form from your company’s personnel office and send it to Craig. We complete the form and mail it to the company’s matching gift office.

QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions, please reach out to Katie Burke, Director of Development at kburke@craigschool.org or 973.334.1295 ex. 229.
