Thank you to Ms. Skerker for her insightful and dynamic webinar presentation this past Wednesday on Post-Secondary planning in the age of Covid. Also, a big thank you to all of our parents who were able to join us and make it work in their busy schedule. Her presentation was the first in our coming college info webinar series. More info to come on that.
With the abbreviated school week ahead, this week’s newsletter will cover all of our news through our upcoming week and the next. Also, just a reminder that our Afterschool Intramural soccer practices start up this Tuesday, November 2nd. We currently have 10 players signed up but are always ready to welcome any new players that would like to join us. Our practices will be from 3-4:30PM on Tuesdays (Nov. 2, 9, 16) and the Monday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 22). And since we are on the topic of reminders, let us be the first to remind you to turn your clocks back an hour on Saturday evening, November 6th as daylight savings time comes to a close.

CSHS Class of 2021 Alumni Update-Jessica Lands a Position as an Assistant Teacher: CSHS Class of 2021 Alum, Jessica landed a summer gig right after graduation at Kinder-Prep that turned into a full year position. Her role at Kinder Prep is as an assistant teacher. She works with little ones ranging from infant to kindergarten and her daily responsibilities include morning drop off and learning the little students to their classrooms. She spends the rest of her mornings supporting the classroom teacher anyway she is asked.
In the afternoon, she supervises and supports playtime and helps the little ones organize for the end of their day. On the weekends, she volunteers at St. Hubert's Animal Shelter where she works in the cattery which houses 20-30 cats and kittens.
Global Teacher-to-Teacher Exchange: The Craig School and GD Goenka World School located in Sohna, a city outside of New Delhi, India, gathered a small group of teachers and administrators via Zoom to exchange ideas on the shifts in education seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Topics focused on student emotional well-being in this new era of education. It was evident that even though GD Goenka and The Craig School are on opposite sides of the globe and each school’s mission is very different, so much of what we are seeing in the classroom is the same, such as the awareness of building relationships with students and families to foster learning and tuning into the social and emotional well-being of students. The two schools plan on continuing this exchange throughout the school year through facilitated dialogue and teacher training opportunities.

NHS Share Halloween Cheer with their Teachers: This year’s National Honor Society, led by our Director of College Counseling and Placement, Ms. Lindsey Skerker focuses on celebrating The Craig School Community throughout the school year. They kicked off this year's NHS project list with a Halloween project where they surveyed all of the teachers about their favorite candy and using the results of this survey, created unique and personalized Halloween Treat bags for each teacher.
And the students of CSHS don’t know it yet but our NHS created one for each of them as well! (pic of our NHS with the treat bags in the pic gallery)
Junior Shines at Annual Beavertown 5K in Lincoln Park: This past Saturday, the Cross Country team, led by Coach Crum, ran in its first live race of the season, the Lincoln Park Beavertown 5K. The race attracted over 100 runners on a beautiful fall Saturday. Junior Josh not only ran a career best time but he also placed 3rd in his age category which included all runners aged 15 to 19. Way to go Josh! (pic in gallery)
Badger Afterschool Intramural Soccer League Begins First Week in November: Indoor soccer is back! We have enough interest to make this official. Our intramural season will begin the first week in November and run through Thanksgiving, is CO-ED, open to all high school students, and a great opportunity to improve basic soccer skills in game like situations while being a part of a dynamic and supportive team.
Our season will include afterschool practices from 3-4:30PM on the following TUES in November:
We are hoping to coordinate a game or two with another HS before we break for Thanksgiving.
THE CRAIG SCHOOL ANNUAL FUND
The Annual Fund helps to make up the difference between the cost of tuition and the cost of educating each Craig student. We use donations raised through the Annual Fund to not only provide the very best educational program for our students but also do many incredible things on campus that your tuition dollars don’t cover such as:
WHO DONATES TO THE ANNUAL FUND?
Everyone! All constituencies are encouraged to participate (faculty, staff, parents, alumni, friends, grandparents, foundations, corporations) at whatever financial level they feel is appropriate. Historically, 100% of faculty and staff donate to the Annual Fund each year.
HOW CAN I DONATE TO THE ANNUAL FUND?
