We want to thank all of our parents who were able to join us for Back to School Night. It was a wonderful community gathering with an amazing turnout. We also would like to give a big shout out to all of our student volunteers who guided our parents to classes and kept us on schedule! And last but not least, we would like to thank all of our parent, student, teacher, and staff bakers for sharing their time and delicious skill set for the Class of 2022 Bake Sale.
Our bake sale raised almost $200 and offered such delicious and aptly student named baked goods such as the “Sisters Krispies and Brownies”, “Chunkin Pumpkin'” Cookies, Apple Bites, “Viva La Marshmallow” Treats, “Spare Tire” Cupcakes, the Fall Cookie Collection, Brownie Bonanza, “A Little Bit of Everything” Bakers box, Banana Choc-Chip Muffins, and Creamsicle Cupcakes. It was a sweet bake sale table on so many levels! (pic in the gallery).

Late, Lost & Lagging Behind: Demystifying Executive Functions
Executive functioning skills are essential to how we learn and act. They're the brain’s ability to self-regulate, complete tasks, be time aware and remember information. In essence, they control EVERYTHING we do! Leslie will break down the six pillars of executive functions, including time management, working memory, effort and mood regulation. She’ll highlight the importance of understanding where your student sits on the Executive Age scale, and provide insight in how we can help our students strengthen their EF muscle. Leslie will also detail specific scaffolding, strategies and systems and provide practical solutions using case studies to help support organization, time management, procrastination and focusing weaknesses.
Sign ups will be coming soon.

Craig LS-MS and HS Team Up for TREX Nationwide Recycling Competition: Over the last few years, all grades at The Craig School from 2nd through 12th have teamed up for the nationwide Trex plastic recycling competition. In the past two years of collecting as a school community, we have collected almost 200lbs of plastic that otherwise would have ended up in landfills and taken 100 years to decompose!
Plastic bags and other plastic wraps require different processing equipment that traditional town recycling programs just do not have so these plastics usually end up in the trash and then ultimately, our landfills. TREX can take 140,000 recycled plastic bags (the average number of bags that many of us have stored in our pantry) and turn them into a 500 square foot deck!
In addition to our plastic recycling being turned into composite decking, we have joined a collective of other schools from across the country and brought awareness to our students on how they can be active participants in protecting and preserving our planet. Led by our very own National Honor Society chapter we are proud to share that we are starting up our plastic recycling program for this school year.
There are specially marked TREX recycling bins located at the front entrances of both schools. We will be collecting now through April and will be accepting the following (all plastic must be clean, dry, and free of food residue):
Any TREX questions, please feel to reach out to our NHS Program Leader, Ms. Skerker at LSkerker@craigschool.org
