Dear Craig Families,
You made our Teacher Appreciation Week extraordinary. We were overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness. Although not as challenging as last year, times have been tough, but our teachers are tougher. We owe them our thanks for their unwavering devotion and commitment to our students and families.
During Teacher Appreciation Week we enjoyed everything from breakfast to lunch and cookies in-between. Such efforts were made to make everyone feel special, but can I take a moment to address an appreciation to all of you? Parents, you too have gone through an unbelievable two years. You have been teachers, caregivers, coaches, and more. You have received phone calls from our nurse on Wednesdays that have set your week into a tailspin. You have become masters in technology and experts in flexibility. As we celebrate our remarkable teachers, let’s celebrate all of you. The entire Craig family should be honored for going beyond the call of duty to make the positive impact we have had on our students’ learning and development. Educating is heart work. I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing Craig School Community.
Sincerely,
Janet Cozine

Library - WOW! Thank you to the families that checked their homes for over due books. We had over 25 returned last week. A big thanks to Lana who has been our library aide champion. She comes each week and works on any project I request. She is extraordinary. If you would like to become involved in the library next year I would LOVE to have you join us. We typically have 4-6 people who are aides each year. You can chose the time and day you volunteer. Typically volunteers come for 1-2 hours a week. If interested in getting involved email lgiven@craigshool.org

LA Newsletter
Framing Your Thoughts Sentence Structure teaches the children at The Craig School to write detailed sentences that include all sentence elements. Starting with bare-bones sentences which only include a subject and a predicate is the beginning of the process. We gradually add the different types of predicate expanders to add interest to the sentences. These expanders will answer the questions where, how, when, and why. Next, the receiver of the predicate can answer what or who does the action. For more detail, subject descriptions are added so we know what the subject looks like, how it behaves, and how many there are. Furthermore, connectors can be added if there is more than one subject or predicate, or if we have a compound sentence. We use special symbols to diagram the sentences. The children are given picture prompts to inspire writing the best sentences ever. See what great diagrammed sentences we can write.
See our photo gallery.

A letter from a parent sharing her experiences.
Hello Craig School Parents!
It’s hard to believe that after 10 years as a Craig School parent, my second child to attend Craig will graduate this spring. My whole family has been so positively impacted by The Craig School. The skills learned here and the friendships formed will remain with all of us for the rest of our lives. Although next year I won’t be at The Craig School quite as much, I will continue to be involved and support this school that has given my family and me so much.
As I reflect on this big change, I recognize that the world is constantly evolving. As new people come into our lives and cherished friends move on to other endeavors, it is incredibly important to keep Craig strong. The best way that I know to help Craig continue to grow and thrive is by supporting their fundraising efforts. The Craig School’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Annual Golf Outing, will occur on Tuesday, June 21st at Ballyowen, New Jersey’s number 1 rated golf course. You do not have to be a golfer to participate in this fundraising event. You can attend the dinner and auction which is a wonderful opportunity to meet other Craig families, alumni and friends and help support this school we love so much!
If you’re not able to golf or attend dinner on Tuesday, June 21st, you can still support the school by helping with the silent auction. You can donate items to the auction through our Amazon Wish List. The Amazon Wish List is similar to a gift/wedding registry – there are an assortment of items of varying price levels available for you to purchase for the 2022 Golf Outing and Silent Auction which will be delivered directly to the Blue House. Should you decide to purchase an item(s) through the Amazon Wish List, please make sure all items are at the Blue House by May 20th and please list yourself as the donor so you can properly receive credit for your donation(s).
There are other ways that you can support The Craig School’s biggest fundraiser of the year too. You can make a monetary contribution - checks can be made payable to The Craig School and dropped off at the Blue House or your son/daughter can give it to their teacher. You can purchase a tee box, sponsor a teacher or you can donate an experience for the auction (tickets to a sporting event, vacation home, hotel package, etc.) Finally, you can volunteer to help put together the donations once all the items have been received at Craig. There are so many ways to help make this year’s Golf Outing and Silent Auction the best fundraiser yet!
Thank you so much for your support of The Craig School. Any donation of items, cash, or time that you’re able to provide for this event would be wonderful! We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, June 21st to celebrate Craig!
Amanda Jahn, Craig High School Parent

JANET M. COZINE AUDITORIUM
Thank you for all of your support for the Janet M. Cozine Auditorium renovation. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to this project, and for those who have gotten involved and shared their experiences at The Craig School.
Our campaign continues and as of today we have raised $165,000 with gifts from every constituency of the school: students, parents, faculty, staff, former faculty, alumni, alumni parents, and grandparents. A testament to Janet's 42 year career and the impact made on the lives of so many families that are a part of Badger Nation.
Our goal is to raise $265,000 for the completion of the project. If you have not given to the campaign, please consider a gift today to celebrate our esteemed Director of the Lower and Middle School, Janet M. Cozine.
You can pledge here:
Donate to the Janet M. Cozine Auditorium,
pay via Text2Fund by texting Badgers to 71760,
pay via Paypal at https://www.craigschool.org/giving/

WALK FOR JANET M. COZINE
The Craig School will be hosting a walk on Saturday, May 21, 2022 to honor Janet M. Cozine’s 42-year career at The Craig School with this school-wide celebration!
Activities will kick off at 10:00 am with music and greetings followed by a stroll down the Boulevard with Janet as well as our students, parents, alumni, alumni parents, and friends. After the event, we will meet back on campus for more festivities and refreshments, which includes the Kona Ice Truck! All participants will be eligible for prizes that day.
We would love to see you and your families joining us on this special day to celebrate the one and only Janet M. Cozine.

Craig School Emergency Contact System: The Craig School uses a multi-tiered communication system that provides to our families, the highest level of certainty that you are made aware of any change in the opening or closing status of Craig Lower Middle School and Craig High. Our various communication tiers include:
DROP IN OPEN OFFICE HOURS with Dr. Loftin, Head of School
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday- LS/MS 2:00pm -3:00pm

Birthdays: Please note:
We understand that some children want to share a “birthday treat” with their classmates on their special day. If you are planning to have your child bring food items into school for sharing please abide by the following:
Treats will be shared at snack time or homeroom (at the teacher’s discretion) and not during lunchtime or recess. We have more than one group-and sometimes grade- together at those times and it is difficult to single out only certain children for the treat while others are present.
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Ellen Meisenbacher at emeisenbacher@craigschool.org
Thank you for understanding.
If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Mary Calvano at mcalvano@craigschool.org.
