I read a couple of publications regularly about is going on in private independent schools across the United States and in other parts of the world. There are trends and there are simply stories about how some schools approach problems and solved those problems. I feel fortunate to have these resources to guide me as well as to check in periodically about how our school is doing. Every one of us who work in professions where modeling “good behavior” is written about or shown visually over digital platforms can take stock periodically about where we are. How do our students and your youngsters do it? For some, they watch their classmates and try to figure out how they “measure up”. We all know that this may not always be helpful to youngsters as the constant comparison can be unhealthy. We also know that students learn from other students and the give and take can be healthy. Have you modeled good behavior for your children, so they can periodically check in and see how they are doing with regards to their own goals?
