CHS Program Spotlight

SAVE THE DATE Craig High School College Fair 2018-Wednesday, April 3rdWe would like to extend a personal invitation to all of the parents and students of Craig High to join us for one of our most prominent and celebrated community events of our school year – The Craig High School-Boonton High School College and Post-Secondary Fair.  This is our 13th year hosting this event and each year it has grown both in the number of colleges attending and the number of families and students that join us for the evening.
Like Craig High, our college fair specializes in programs that are specific to supporting students with learning disabilities.  This year we are expecting over 30 colleges and post-secondary programs to be represented.

These programs were hand-picked to be a part of our college fair based on the strength of their comprehensive academic programs for students with learning disabilities, the disabilities services, and accommodations that are accessible, the reputation and quality of education they provide, and the variety of majors and on-campus activities that are available.

We are expecting over 200 families from the Craig School and the Boonton/Lincoln Park communities to join us on Wednesday, April 3rd anytime between 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Boonton High School Main Gym. Parking will be behind the Boonton High near the turf field and track. No RSVP’s are required, just show up and feel free to bring a friend. For more information and a list of colleges that will be attending go to https://www.craigschool.org/happenings/college-fair-2019-attendees/

CHS L3 and CHS NHS Team Up for Collection for Roots and Wings: The CHS Ladies Leadership League and our Chapter of the National Honor Society are teaming up to support Roots and Wings of Denville (https://www.rootsandwingsnj.org) through a supply drive we are calling “Handbags for a Better Tomorrow”.

Roots and Wings is a transition program for young adults, 18-24, that have aged out of the NJ Foster Care System.  They provide case management, counseling, educational support and life skills in order to empower motivated young adult toward self-sufficiency.  Our goal is to fill the 12 Handbags that the school has purchased with everything a transitioning young lady might want/need to have in their handbag.  Items we are collecting include cosmetics cases, travel size feminine hygiene products, small wallets, purses, cosmetics, treatment products, fragrances, small travel accessories, packs of tissues, and mints.  The drive starts this Monday, March 25th and will run through Monday, April 8th.  We will have a drive box by the main office where items can be dropped off.  The L3 and the CHS NHS will sort, organize, pack each bag, and then deliver them personally to Roots and Wings.

Ladies Leadership League Take Part in a Yoga Workshop: CHS Ladies Leadership League (L3) recently took part in a Yoga workshop led by Gwen T. Gencarelli, a certified Yoga Instructor, and a dance major graduate of Dean College (MA). The L3 workshop focused on the feeling of mind, body and soul in different asanas (postures) with an emphasis on just releasing and letting go of the outside world through a calm, gentle flow yoga. Throughout the workshop, our yoga instructor shared the various subtleties to breathing, the physiology behind the various poses, and the life long benefit of yoga.
