THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

Week of June 2nd, 2025

This Friday, June 6th, we send off our 12th graders in style and host the Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony.  It is a true community event, and we would love for all of our students to join us.  The day will be a 12PM Close.  Graduation will start up at 10AM followed by refreshments and our annual Graduation Ice Cream Truck visit!

The following week (June 9-13) is all 12PM close days as well as our last week of classes.  The plan is for MON, June 9, and TUES, June 10, to be final exam prep days with exams to be held on WEDS, June 11, and THURS, June 12.  Our week and school year will culminate on FRI, June 13th, with our annual end-of-the-school-year Spirit Day.

That should get us to the finish line for this year.  Have a great start to your June,

Dr. Cap

ALUMNI EVENTS

CHS Class of 2024 Grad, Alyssa, Wraps Up 1st Year at Rowan University:   We are excited to share an alumni outreach from Alyssa, a graduate of the CHS Class of 2024.  She was accepted to multiple colleges and chose to attend Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, where she just wrapped up her freshman year with a 3.75 GPA!

Alyssa shared that she is loving the “Rowan Life” and is enjoying her freedom while maintaining her grades.   She is majoring in advertising and has landed a summer internship with a company that makes games for the neurodivergent community.  She will be helping them to set up advertising and marketing campaigns for their new game.  This paid internship will continue through her next school year.  Way to go, Alyssa!

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

CHS Summer Reading 2025:  This summer, our students will have a voice in their summer reading.  Ms. Gallagher and Mrs. Barnet have put together an amazing list of summer reading books to choose from.   Here is the link to our summer reading (CHS Summer Reading Options and Logs) that includes titles and a brief description of our summer reading book options, a selection of highly regarded YA books.

Each has a link to Amazon where they are available in various formats, from paperback to Audible to Kindle.  Most of the books are on the LEARNING ALLEY app, so once they make a choice, if you email me (ECaparulo@craigschool.org) the book, we can add it to their LEARNING ALLEY online bookshelf through their Craig School account, so they have the option of listening to it on the Learning Ally Audio App.

Each student will have two summer reading responsibilities. One is to keep a reading log (blanks enclosed, make copies as necessary) to chart progress and summarize after each reading session.  The Second will be to choose a reading project from the enclosed list of project choices.  There are a few options and truly something for everyone to express their creativity and convey their interpretation of their summer reading.  Reading Logs and projects will be due on the first day of school.

For those students coming to summer school, our summer English Teachers will help kids stay on track with their summer reading.

Advancement

THE CRAIG GOLF EVENT NEEDS YOUR HELP:  Here are 2 ways you can help.  First, our online auction will run alongside the outing, and we need your help to make it a success! Thanks to our generous Craig families, we’re bringing back the Amazon Wish List for easy item donations. Simply select an item, and it will be shipped directly to Craig School to be bundled into auction packages. All items must arrive by May 21st.

How You Can Help the Auction:

  • Golf Club Connections – If you’re a golf club member or know someone who is, a golf foursome donation or a member and a threesome would be a sought-after auction item.
  • Auction Donations – Have season tickets, a vacation home, or access to unique experiences? Consider donating them! Gift cards are also great additions.
  • Monetary Contributions – Cash donations are welcome! Make checks payable to The Craig School and drop them off at the Blue House.

Every contribution - big or small - helps make this event successful. Thank you for supporting Craig’s largest fundraiser!  For questions, contact: Amanda Jahn (ajahn@craigschool.org), or Mary Calvano (mcalvano@craigschool.org)

The second way to help - attend the outing and/or dinner.  Details are:
