Parents' Association of The Craig School (PACS)

PACS is a parent volunteer organization supporting The Craig School mission by becoming actively involved in the Craig community and events. PACS is run by its Executive Committee, which works closely with the school's administration to find meaningful opportunities for ways for parents to be active participants in their child’s school community.

The mission of PACS is to

  • Establish and maintain open communication among the parents, school, administration of The Craig School,
  • Provide services and activities beyond the academic requirements that give the school vitality and a sense of community, and
  • Organize specific endeavors that benefit the school community, i.e. fundraising events, community awareness, and social activities as approved by The Craig School administrative team.

It goes without saying that an engaged and active parent body, contributing its time and ideas, is a strong asset to an independent school. For parents, however, the most important reason to become involved in your children - to contribute in ways that will enrich their school life during their years at The Craig School.

We urge all of our parents to become members of PACS and participate in its many activities listed next.

PACS Events include, but are not limited to:
  • FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL COFFEE Renew acquaintances over a cup of coffee and treats with other parents immediately after you drop off your student. It is a great way to relax once the kids are dropped off!
  • CRAIG GEAR "Be True to Your School!" Craig Gear clothing, accessories, and supplies offer students, parents, and faculty the opportunity to show their school spirit!
  • HALLOWEEN TRICK OR TRUNK Come join in the festivities by hosting a “trunk”, participating in the activities, or just enjoying the parade.  After the costume parade, the students will trick or treat at the imaginatively decorated trunks.  Festivities for all grades are planned for after the trunk visits.  All parents and friends are welcome.
  • WAFFLE BREAKFAST AND READ ACROSS AMERICA Breakfast, Dr. Seuss, and reading – what a combination!  The kids enjoy a waffle and bagel breakfast with a Dr. Seuss theme.  After that, they participate in Read Across America.  It is a wonderful morning where parents are invited to join in.  For high school students, there is a breakfast and Read Across America celebration.
  • BOOK FAIR PACS organizes a Scholastic Book Fair with the proceeds going directly to the school with Scholastic Dollars to spend.  We also use it as an opportunity to acquire new library books.  Our reading teachers do a wonderful job guiding the students in their selections.
  • CELEBRATING DROP EVERYTHING AND READ After a yummy snack of hot chocolate and cookies, students drop their regular work for a reading break.
  • TEACHER APPRECIATION Each spring, PACS honors The Craig School faculty and staff with a luncheon and other festivities, as a way of thanking them for their efforts all year long on behalf of the children.  Parents are encouraged to participate in the celebration by sending in food and treats, serving lunch, or decorating for the luncheon.
  • PACSACS DAY
Breakfast of bagels, muffins, coffee, juice, and other treats are served to start PACSACS Day – a celebration of PACS, Awards Ceremony, and Science fair!
  • HOME COOKING SERIES
On designed days, high school parents cook lunch for our students.  These lunches cover days when the cafeteria is not open to give our students a tasty option.  It also gives the students an opportunity to sample other types of foods!

PACS also takes part in the Lower and Middle School Library, Grandfriends’ Day, the Annual Chili Throwdown, Teacher Feature benefit, and the Annual Auction.
