THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

Hello Badger families,

A huge thank you to our very talented faculty and staff for helping our families understand their child’s programming and schedule at last night’s Back to School Night. It was wonderful to see so many of you walking our halls and sitting in your child’s classes.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be highlighting in the newsletter some of the key points that were shared during Back to School Night. For today, I’d like to share a few public service announcements—small reminders that help our days run smoothly for our students, faculty, staff, families, and neighbors.

We truly appreciate your support. Although these may seem like little things, they make a big difference in keeping our school days positive, organized, and welcoming for everyone.

Public Service Announcements

  • Lunches: Please help us with lunch supervision by sending lunches that do not need to be heated. This helps our staff keep lunchtime efficient and focused on the students.
  • Lost and Found: Our lost and found is located in the small hallway off the main office. Please take a look—you might find that missing sweatshirt or water bottle! Labeling items helps us return them quickly.
  • Stay Connected: Use our newsletter, website, and app to keep up with school happenings and upcoming events. You’ll find our calendar, sign-ups, and special announcements all in one place.
  • Car Line: Thank you for helping car line run so smoothly! Please continue to enter by going up Martin’s Lane, even for after-school activities. If someone else is picking up your child, please let them know this procedure. And a gentle reminder—please do not block driveways on either side of the road.
  • Student Directory: The student directory can be found in your Veracross dashboard. Participation was determined during the contract process, and you can update your information anytime to share as much or as little as you’d like.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and week ahead as we continue to settle into the school year. Thank you for being such an important part of our Craig community!

Thank you,

Jen Guthrie

COMMUNITY NEWS

This Friday, October 10th, at 7 PM, we will be testing our PARENT OUTREACH PHONE SYSTEM. This is our primary communication tool to announce any change in school status (late opening, early dismissal, school closing), so we thought we should give it a test run to make sure we have all the right contact numbers in place before the word “snow” becomes part of any future winter conversations.  If you do not receive the call on Friday night, please email Mrs. Mershimer at DMershimer@craigschool.org and let her know that you did not get the call and what number we should make sure is in our system.  She will make those updates.

Craig School Trunk-or-Treat

Everyone is welcome! Join the fun at the Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, October 31st, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event will be held in the Craig School LS/MS parking lot and will also include class parties. Cars participating in the trunk-or-treat can start decorating at 9:00 AM. Your grade-level parents will provide more details about the class parties and additional volunteer opportunities.

Here’s the schedule for the trunk-or-treat and class party locations:

* Trunk-or-Treat Times:

  * 2nd to 5th grade: 10:30 AM, Gym (Left)

  * 6th grade: 10:50 AM, Gym (Right)

  * 7th and 8th grade: 11:10 AM, Cafeteria

* All-School Parade: 10:15 AM

Only individually wrapped, nut-free candy is permitted. An optional Amazon Wish List is provided at the bottom of the signup form, which includes allergy-friendly options to simplify the donation process.

We need volunteers to assist with directing the parking lot for the participating cars. This crucial role ensures the smooth and safe running of the event. It’s also an excellent opportunity for extended family members, such as grandparents, to get involved in the festivities.

Sign up to decorate a trunk, donate candy, or help oversee the parking lot!
