THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

Tonight (Friday, October 10th at 7 PM), we will be testing our PARENT OUTREACH PHONE SYSTEM. This is our primary communication tool to announce any change in school status (late opening, early dismissal, school closing), so we thought we should give it a test run to make sure we have all the right contact numbers in place before the word “snow” becomes part of any future winter conversations.

We also send a school-wide email and post any changes on the Craig School Facebook and X pages as additional components.  If you do not receive the call on Friday night, please email Mrs. Mershimer at DMershimer@craigschool.org and let her know that you did not get the call and what number we should make sure is in our system.  She will make those updates.

Week of Respect Cap-tivating Crew (not pictured but part of the crew, Mrs. Bhakta)

For our upcoming school week, it's all about Frost Valley!  Our buses will be pulling out WEDS, Oct 15th, a little after 9 AM.  Our plan is to have our kids back by the usual dismissal time of 2:50 PM on FRI, Oct 17th, so you can arrange for your transportation companies to pick up our students like any other school day if that works for you.  Our weather is looking sunny, with highs of 58 during the day, lows of 39 at night, so plan accordingly. Sleeping bags and a pillow are a must; money for the Frost Valley store is optional!  Here is to a great week,

Dr. Cap

COMMUNITY NEWS

College Lunch Visit with Montserrat College of Art on Tuesday, October 14th: Calling all CHS art enthusiasts! Come join us for our next college admissions counselor visiting us from Montserrat College of Art. Located about five hours away in Beverly, Massachusetts (about 30 miles north of Boston), Montserrat is a small private college founded in 1970. Home to approximately 300 students, Montserrat offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with 12 concentrations in various subjects, including Animation, Illustration, Graphic Design, Painting, and Game Design, as well as minors in fields such as Art Education and Creative Writing. The college emphasizes creativity, community engagement, and professional readiness. For those interested in a pre-college summer experience, Montserrat offers a great program for students ages 16+ to spend a few weeks on campus and take college-level art courses. Students can join us during lunch to learn more about this great opportunity.

CHS International Travel This SPRING (Spain) and SUMMER (Ecuador):  We are excited to welcome back GOGI ABROAD, who will be offering some amazing international travel opportunities to CHS this Spring and Summer. How does 9 days in Spain sound during Spring Break, or 10 days traveling the Galapagos Islands this summer?  Find out more with GOGI Director Liz Jackson and Mr. Furlong during an informational Zoom on November 5th (Wednesday)—more info to come.
