HS NEWSLETTER- Feb 13th

THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

With the weather getting back into the balmy mid-30’s, it's the perfect time for our mid-winter break.  A few reminders as we enjoy our super extended weekend-

  • 2nd Trimester Progress Reports are posted on our Parent Portal (Craig Parent Portal).  These mark the midway point of the trimester, which means our students have a nice window to game plan with their teachers and coaches wherever they might need to. Any questions or need for elaboration, email that teacher directly.
  • Our March Lunch Delivery ordering window is now open through Monday, February 23rd (www.myfooddays.com).
  • Friday Night After-School Skiing is happening on Friday, Feb 27th.  To take advantage of our school discount, you need to register by Feb 20th at https://shop.mtpeter.com/groups and enter the group code (Craig26).  Some of our parents have asked about car pooling to Mt. Peters, so email me if you are attending, and I will see if we can share some contact info with our interested skiers.
  • Our Annual Chili Throwdown is happening Sunday, March 15th, 12-2PM.  It is more than just chili (but there is a lot of chili).  We will be putting out the call for chili chefs soon, so get out that family recipe!
  • CHS Summer School registration is in full-effect. This year’s CHS summer academy will be held on our Mt. Lakes campus, July 6th to July 30th.  For more info, go to our website- Academics - Summer Academy Tab

Enjoy your break.  I know our students will!

Director for the Day – Craig High Junior MAX

CHS 11th Grader, Max, took on the role of  Director for the Day at Craig High, an experience made possible by our recent Badger Bowl-a-Rama Auction.  Being a graduate of Craig Middle School, it only made sense that Max joined some cross-campus administrative meetings in Mountain Lakes, which gave him the opportunity to catch up with some of his former teachers and share in his newly acquired title, if only for the day!

Max began his Director role at CHS by starting our students on their day, followed by helping to complete an administrative project to revamp our Honor Roll certs. Mission accomplished.  Next, we checked our admin calendar and saw had a later-morning meeting with the Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Furlong, so it was off to Mt. Lakes.

Post meeting, Max helped set up the lunchroom with Mr. Furlong and as tribute to his Shadow Director Day, we formed the tables into a large letter “M””. After our Mt. Lakes, meeting we met up with the rest of the CHS National Honor Society for a community project at the Renaissance in Lincoln Park, where we guided the senior residents there in a card making/cookie decorating afternoon activity. Our day wrapped up with an Admin Lunch at Woodstack to reflect on our day.

THIS WEDS-Josten Ring INFO SESSION Wednesday, Feb 18th

This Wednesday, February 18th, during end-of-day support, our Josten ring sales rep, DENNIS, will be paying Craig High a visit.  He will be handing out order booklets and walking students through how to design their very own high school class rings online.

  • When finished designing, click on ORDER IN SCHOOL and print out the finished order form

They also have Class Tags, Necklaces, and Bracelets you can design.  Our ring rep, Dennis, will be in later FEB to pick up printed order forms and size up students' ring fingers. Order due date TBA.

CHS Summer Program 2026-REGISTRATION

The Craig High School Summer Academic Program will be held at our MOUNTAIN LAKES campus during July (July 6-July 30, Mon-Thurs 9 am-12 pm).  The experience of having both schools on one campus last summer was a positive experience for our summer students and staff, so this year we will be heading over to Mt. Lakes.

In addition to the morning academic program, you can also register for the AFTERNOON ENRICHMENT Program, which follows the morning academics M-TH from 12-3:30 PM.  The afternoon enrichment program offers all-day field trips on Fridays throughout July (Fridays, 9AM-4PM).  For our HS students attending the afternoon enrichment program, we provide an opportunity to be a “Counselor in Training” (CIT). Our CIT program is facilitated by Mr. Furlong.

CHS Senior Ava Accepted to FDU

We are thrilled to announce that CHS Senior Ava was accepted to Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham Park/Madison campus)!

FDU has two campuses in Northern New Jersey - the Florham Park/Madison campus and the Metro campus in Teaneck and a variety of majors, including video game animation, advertising, cybersecurity, criminal justice, education, hospitality, marine biology, psychology, and public health.  FDU offers renowned support services through the Regional Center for Learning Disabilities, or The RC, as students call it on campus. The RC is recognized as one of the best comprehensive support services in US higher education, providing all-inclusive academic advising, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and a summer preparatory program.  On behalf of the CHS Badger community, we would all like to congratulate Ava.  We are so proud of you!

ATHLETICS

CHS Bowling Wraps Up Season with the Tournament of Champions

This past week we wrapped our winter Intramural League, and as CHS tradition dictates, we hosted our TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS to crown this year’s Bowling Kingpin.

This year’s Kingpin crown went to freshman Elijah.  Freshman Joey B and Sophomore Asher rounded out the top three spots.  In addition, we also awarded our SPARES and STRIKE champs for the season.  9th grader Caelen took this year’s SPARE title, and we had a tie for the STRIKE title between Elijah and Joey B.  Thanks to Coach Crum for a great 4-week run, our Badger bowlers for their enthusiasm, positivity, and support for each other, and our parents who made sure they got picked up from the Boonton Lanes each Thursday!
