CALLING ALL CHILI CHEFS-The Craig School Chili Throwdown (Sunday, March 15th)

We have our save-the-date for this year’s Craig School Chili Throwdown (Sunday, March 15th, from 12-2 PM on our Montville Campus).  Now we need our Chili Chefs!

We have crowned quite a few Chili Champs in the past 20 years and are looking to make this year’s the biggest and best Chili Throwdown ever.  In order to make that happen, we need the best Chili that the Craig Community has to offer, so we are looking for our Craig Families to break out that family chili recipe and register to put it to the test.  Here are the Chili Awards Categories that are awaiting this year’s champs.

Craig School Chili Awards 2026

OVERALL WINNER-The "Golden Ladle" Award (Best Overall)

  • The "Master Chef Junior" Award (Student Chili)
  • The "Where is the Beef" Award (Best Vegetarian Chili)
  • The "Disney” Award (Best Mild Chili)
  • The "Off the Scovil Scale" Award (Spicy Award)
  • The "Enigma" Award (Most Unique Chili/Original Ingredient)

We are looking for Mild to Spicy, traditional to one-of-a-kind.  We are also looking to crown a student champ in our “Master Chef Junior” category!  You can use the following link to register for your Chili (Chili Chef REGISTRATION), and don't worry if you don't know what kind of Chili you're going to make right now.  Just enter TBA in that line.  All you need is a Crock Pot, a Ladle, and a great name for your family chili!  Any chili questions, email Mr. Furlong at NFurlong@craigschool.org

Craig High School National Honor Society Spreads Valentine’s Day Cheer

Members of the Craig High School National Honor Society and Dr. Skerker shared part of their day last week with the Renaissance Senior Center, leading a festive Valentine’s Day workshop for local senior citizens.

Our NHS students planned and facilitated hands-on activities that included creating personalized, handmade Valentine’s Day cards and decorating Valentine’s Day cookies. Throughout the afternoon, the senior center was abuzz with conversation, smiles, and shared stories. Students worked side by side with residents, offering decorating ideas, heartfelt compliments, and plenty of encouragement.

The CHS community vibe was truly felt in Lincoln Park that day. As we wrapped up the workshop, the most common question from our senior neighbors was, “When are you coming back?” One NHS member quickly suggested St. Patrick’s Day—so it looks like our March plans may already be taking shape.  We are proud of our NHS members for representing Craig High School with warmth and purpose and for creating such a meaningful and memorable intergenerational experience.

Celebrating our seniors!

We are starting to celebrate and plan for our graduating Craig High seniors with many activities in the works!

March at Craig: Read Across America & PACS Volunteers Needed!

March kicks off Read Across America with our beloved Annual Read Across America Breakfast on March 6th, celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday!  This special breakfast is a student-only event, but PACS is looking for parent volunteers to help with setup, assist during the event, and assist with breakdown. It’s a joyful morning and such a fun way to support our students and celebrate a love of reading.

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

CHS Summer Program 2026-REGISTRATION

The Craig High School Summer Academic Program will be held at our MOUNTAIN LAKES campus during July (July 6-July 30, Mon-Thurs 9 am-12 pm).  The experience of having both schools on one campus last summer was a positive experience for our summer students and staff, so this year we will be heading over to Mt. Lakes.

In addition to the morning academic program, you can also register for the AFTERNOON ENRICHMENT Program, which follows the morning academics M-TH from 12-3:30 PM.  The afternoon enrichment program offers all-day field trips on Fridays throughout July (Fridays, 9AM-4PM).  For our HS students attending the afternoon enrichment program, we provide an opportunity to be a “Counselor in Training” (CIT). Our CIT program is facilitated by Mr. Furlong.

For more information on our summer program, visit our website at www.craigschool.org/summer academy and click on the High School tab. ATHLETICS

CHS Hoops Season Wraps Up with the Badger Cup Game

During this past fall, Mr. Furlong coordinated a cross-campus soccer game that allowed us to bring our student-athlete community together while creating a new school tradition that our players seem to really be embracing.  We created the rotating CRAIG CUP that will be housed each season with the victor of our cross-campus games.

In the Fall, CHS Soccer kept the cup at home, but for the winter, the CRAIG CUP is heading to Mountain Lakes after an exciting, back-and-forth basketball battle that ended in a one-point victory.  CHS Hoops was led by freshman Joey Tall, who led the team in scoring and rebounds, and freshman floor general Elijah, who controlled the game flow and involved all of his teammates throughout. Every CHS Badger filled the stats sheets somewhere, so our season wrapped as it started, as a team effort.  Congrats to our CHS Hoops Team and Coach Rooney for a great season, and congrats to Mt. Lakes.  We will see you again in the Spring for our Cross Campus Volley Ball battle for the Craig Cup!
