THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

Dear Badger Families,

Family STEM Night is coming up very quickly. Mrs. Restieri, Ms. Arena, and Mrs. Vaporis have been putting together a fun challenge for the event. The students are used to working on a team made of their classmates to complete one of our creative STEM challenges. This night is a time for the family to work as a team and follow the STEM design process.

The night begins with pizza served family-style in the cafeteria and continues in the gym for the STEM competition. The challenge itself is a closely guarded secret until everyone is situated in the gym. Families will have a set amount of time and a kit of materials to satisfy the challenge. I am always amazed at the truly creative ways families come up with to meet the challenge.

The invitations to the night have been sent home in your child’s VIP folder and through email. If you missed the flier or haven’t responded yet, please use the link below to respond. Kindly make sure to RSVP today so we can make sure to accommodate everyone who wants to participate. We hope you will be able to join us on February 8th for Family STEM Night!

Have a great weekend,

Jennifer Guthrie

Director of the Lower & Middle School

Summer School registration is now open, so here is what you need to know. The Craig School Summer Academic Program will be held at our MOUNTAIN LAKES campus during July (July 6-July 30, Mon-Thurs 9 am-12 pm).

The experience of having both schools on one campus last summer was a positive experience for our summer students and staff.

In addition to the morning academic program, you can also register for the AFTERNOON ENRICHMENT Program, which follows the morning academics, M-TH from 12-3:30 PM.

The afternoon enrichment program offers all-day field trips on Fridays throughout July (Fridays, 9AM-4PM).

SAVE THE DATE-The Return of the Craig School Chili Throwdown (Sunday, MARCH 15th)

We are excited to announce the official date for this year’s Annual Craig School Chili Throwdown.  It will be Sunday, March 15th, from 1PM-3PM on the Montville campus.  This tradition dates back over 20 years, when in 2010, we held our first throwdown in Lincoln Park.

First Chili Throwdown 2010

We have crowned quite a few Craig School Chili Champs since then and are looking to make this year’s the biggest and best Chili Throwdown ever.  In order to make that happen, we need our Craig Community to come out in force!  So let’s start with our SAVE THE DATE-Sunday, March 15th (1-3PM).
