THE CRAIG SCHOOL

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Director

CHS Prom 2026 is in the books, and it was truly a “Winning Night”!  Big shout-out to our prom Moms, Mrs. Gross and Mrs. Ramos, for transforming the Hyatt Regency ballroom into a grand casino filled with amazing table decor, balloons, and a roaming magician.  Thank you to Mr. Norton and Mr. Furlong for taking the lead on being our dealers for the evening, and to all of our CHS teachers who were able to join us.

Now onto our end-of-the-school-year sprint!  So that we are all on the same page with our school calendar-

  • Friday, June 5th, is our last full day of school.
  • Starting the week of June 8th through June 12th, all our days are 12 PM Close Days.

Our last week of school will be exam prep and exams (Mon-Weds, June 8-10), with Thursday, June 11th, being our final Spirit Day of our School Year, and June 12th being our Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony.

That should do it.  Enjoy your super long weekend,

Dr. Cap

COMMUNITY NEWS

The Craig School’s 20th Annual Golf Outing & Auction

 Tuesday, June 16, 2026
 Ballyowen Golf Club

As we count down to our 20th Annual Golf Outing, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing support from our Craig community.

While our official registration deadline has passed, there is still time to join us on the course! We do have limited flexibility remaining for golfers and sponsors as final plans come together.

In addition, we are currently building our auction experiences -  and we would greatly appreciate support through our Golf Outing Amazon Wishlist.

Whether you attend the outing or simply want to support the event from afar, every item donated helps make the day extra special for our golfers and guests while supporting The Craig School and our students.

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

CHS Senior Charlie Named 2026 NJIDA Rothchild Scholarship Recipient

We are so proud to share that Craig High senior, Charlie, has been named a 2026 recipient of the NJIDA Lois Rothschild Scholarship, earning a $5,000 award from the New Jersey International Dyslexia Association. He will be honored at the upcoming Dyslexia Dash 5K Walk & Run event in Skillman, NJ, on June 7th.

In Charlie’s award-winning essay, he shared,  “I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was in kindergarten…learning never came easily to me. For high school, I transferred to The Craig School, a school for students with language-based learning differences. That is where things really began to change for me…I began to understand that my dyslexia did not have to hold me back. Through hard work and the right instruction, I was able to return to reading on grade level… Overcoming dyslexia has shaped who I am today and has made me a more determined and resilient person”.

At CHS, we talk a lot about ownership, self-awareness, and finding your path. Charlie has taken that talk and made it real. He has grown into a student who understands how he learns, advocates for himself, and puts in the work day in and day out. This recognition is well earned.  We’re proud of you, Charlie. Keep up the great work next year at Johnson College!

ATHLETICS

CHS Golf Hits the Links at Twin Willows

Our CHS after-school Golf Crew wrapped up our spring golf clinics with a trip to Twin Willows in Lincoln Park.  Twin Willows is home to “The 3”, a 10-hole par-3 course, a NJ staple and popular golf course to area HS golf teams.

Our Golf Crew took advantage of their driving range and their putting green and spent the afternoon looking for the longest drive and the perfect putt. Proud to share that each of our golfers achieved both of those goals.  Next season, we are looking to add a 9-hole round to the mix.
