HS Newsletter - March 24th
Few reminders to head into the weekend. This Monday, our April Lunch Delivery orders are due so if you haven’t already, get those April lunch orders in. Also, thanks to Mr. Furlong, we will be running a two-week volleyball program on our Mt. Lakes campus. We will be bringing students over to the Mt. Lakes after school this upcoming Tuesday, (March 25th) and the following Tuesday (April 1st) with parent pick up at the Reeth-Furlong Gym at 5 PM. Players should let Dr. Cap know so that we can make transportation arrangements for those Tuesdays.
We have a couple of colleges joining us to meet with our students in the next two weeks. St. Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, NY will be visiting this upcoming Tuesday, and UTI of Bloomfield will be here at the end of the month. Both are great opportunities for students to learn about different types of programs and the supports that are typically available in most college/certification programs. More information on each college is in this week's CHIL. Happy reading and enjoy your weekend,
Dr. Cap

March GUEST COLLEGE VISITORS SERIES-St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY: This Thursday 3/27 during Lunch, students are invited to meet with our Admissions Rep from STAC (St. Thomas Aquinas College) in Sparkill, NY (just over the border from NJ near the Palisades Mall). Some may remember our great field trip last fall to visit campus! For those that don’t, here is a picture reminder of our adventure!
STAC offers a variety of majors such as finance, marketing, education, sports management, and therapeutic recreation. They also have Pathways, a comprehensive support program for LD students. Depending on which package families choose to enroll in, students work with a professional learning specialist 2-3 times per week. The STAC Spartans are part of NCAA Division II Athletics and students can also participate in esports. All students are welcome to join our guest college visit with STAC by RSVPing to Dr. Skerker (letting her know or email her at LSkerker@craigschool.org) .
Teacher Feature 2025 – Coming Soon!: Spring is here, and so is Teacher Feature! This beloved tradition gives students the chance to join their teachers for fun and memorable adventures. While this year’s offerings are limited, they promise plenty of excitement!
Be on the lookout for the full Information & Sign-Up Packet, which will be available later this afternoon. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t miss out!
For questions, contact Amanda Jahn (ajahn@craigschool.org) or Mary Calvano (mcalvano@craigschool.org).
Craig School Drive-In is Back, Friday, May 3rd: The Movie Night Community Event has been rescheduled for May 3rd.
Welcoming a Fellow Badger Back to Town, Luke D Class of 2023: CHS grad and current college guy, Luke D. came back to the CHS campus to visit while he was home on Spring Break! He is enjoying his Sophomore year at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida, where he is majoring in Business Management, Hospitality, and Tourism. Luke finished out last semester with all A's!
He is learning all about event planning, customer service, and the business side of the industry. Luke has been enjoying weekend trips off campus, and thanks to Beacon's proximity to Orlando, he has enjoyed spending time at Disney Springs and soaking in the Disney Parks. He even had a class project about Disney merchandising, where the students learned all about advertising and product placement. This spring, Luke has also been taking a sports officiating class to learn about being a referee! We are so proud of Luke and always happy to have our Badgers back in town. For anyone who is interested in Beacon College's summer programs for high schoolers, check out this link.
CHS Bowling Tourney 2025 Wrap-Up: A couple of weeks back we wrapped up our CHS Bowling League with our season-ending bowling tournament and crowned a few champions.
Our 2025 tourney winner was 10th grader Griffin who averaged a 111 for the season! Our top three season bowlers were 9th grader Mike B, 9th grader Molly, and 12th grader Chloe who also took home MOST IMPROVED bowler. In addition, we had a couple of stats champs that we would like to celebrate. 12th grader Mary set the SPARES TOTAL bar for the season at 11 while 9th grader Peyton took home the STRIKES QUEEN title with 6 strikes for the season. All of our bowlers received a very cool bowling key chain. And a final big thank you to all of our parents for your support and bowling pick-ups. Time to roll but we will definitely see our bowlers next season!
