As our school year winds down, so too does our weekly newsletter. This is our final CHIL for this year, and to send you off to summer, we have included in our calendar section a few important dates that we thought you might want to put on your calendar for the fall.
For this upcoming week, all our days are 12 PM closes from this point forward. Final “final trimester” exam prep is MON, our exams are TUES and WEDS. We will be collecting all CHROMEBOOKS, CHARGERS, and TEXTBOOKS on WEDS, June 10th, as well.
On THURS, June 11th, we will have our Spring Spirit Day, and on FRI, June 12th, we will host our GRADUATION for the CHS Class of 2026. Our Spring Spirit Day and our Graduation are true school community events, and we would love for all of our students to join us. Graduation will be followed by refreshments and our annual Graduation Ice Cream Truck visit!
It has been an amazing school year and one that we could not have pulled off without the trust and support of you, our parents. Have a wonderful and fun-filled summer, and if we don’t see you over the summer, we will catch up with you in the fall.
Dr. Cap

CHS Summer Reading Choices 2026
Here is the link to our summer reading (CHS Summer Reading Options and Logs). Here you will find the titles and a brief description of each summer reading book option, a selection of highly regarded YA books. Each has a link to Amazon where they are available in various formats, from paperback to Audible to Kindle.
Most of the books are on the LEARNING ALLEY app, so once they make a choice, if you email Dr. Cap (ECaparulo@craigschool.org) the book choice, we can add it to their LEARNING ALLEY online bookshelf through their Craig School account, so they have the option of listening to it on the Learning Ally Audio App.
Each student will CHOOSE ONE BOOK and complete the following two summer reading responsibilities. One is to keep a reading log (blanks enclosed, make copies as necessary) to chart progress and summarize after each reading session. The Second will be to choose a reading project from the enclosed list of project choices. There are a few options, and truly something for everyone to express their creativity and convey their interpretation of their summer reading. Reading Logs and projects will be due on the first day of school. For those students coming to summer school, our summer English Teachers will help kids stay on track with their summer reading.
CHS PHYSICS-Exploring Sound Waves
And how can we not close the school year with another awesome Mr. Simpson science experiment? This one involves sound waves. Our Physics class used a ukulele to investigate the first and second harmonics of a string on the ukulele. The first harmonic (fundamental frequency) is the lowest natural frequency at which a system vibrates, producing a single standing wave loop. The second harmonic is a higher frequency, exactly twice the first, producing two loops that determine the frequency of musical notes, or in other words, their unique tone.
Students played and recorded the frequency of an open string (the first harmonic) and recorded a frequency of 394 Hertz. They then pushed the string down as close as possible to half its length (second harmonic) and recorded a frequency of 794 Hertz. Based on the 1% experimental error allowed, we see that if we halve the spring length, the frequency doubles. No ukuleles or eardrums were harmed during this experiment.

Ballyowen Golf Club
As we count down to our 20th Annual Golf Outing, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing support from our Craig community.
While our official registration deadline has passed, there is still time to join us on the course! We do have limited flexibility remaining for golfers and sponsors as final plans come together.
In addition, we are building our auction experiences, and we would greatly appreciate support through our Golf Outing Amazon Wishlist.
Whether you attend the outing or simply want to support the event from afar, every item donated helps make the day extra special for our golfers and guests while supporting The Craig School and our students.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 20 years of this wonderful Craig tradition. Proceeds from the outing directly support student programs and opportunities at The Craig School.

SUMMER ACADEMY
CHS Class of 2026 Final Decisions: Three Seniors, Three Exciting Next Chapters
As the CHS Class of 2026 begins to wrap up their HS careers, we are proud to celebrate our Craig High seniors and their official decisions on their next steps. Each has chosen a path as unique as the student who will be walking it, and they are a true testament to their hard work, commitment, and clarity of their future goals.
CHS Senior Ava Heading to FDU
Ava will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University this fall on the Florham Park/Madison campus. Ava plans to study Psychology as she begins this exciting next step.
CHS Senior Charlie Heading to Johnson College
Charlie has decided that PA is where the fall will take him, as he will be attending Johnson College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Charlie will be studying HVAC in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technology program.
Sivert will be attending Liberty University this fall, where he has been accepted into the School of Aeronautics, where he will train for a future career as a commercial pilot.
These three seniors represent everything that Craig High School aspires to for its students: perseverance, growth, and finding the right path forward. Whether attending a four-year university, pursuing a technical career path, or chasing a lifelong dream, Ava, Charlie, and Sivert have made the CHS community proud. Congratulations to all three members of the Class of 2026. We look forward to following you on your next adventures.
CHS Yearbook 2026 ON SALE Through THIS MON June 8th
CHS Yearbooks are on sale through next MON, June 8th, so there is still time to place an order. The cost is $40.00 (check made out to “The Craig School''). Although our yearbooks do celebrate the CHS Class of 2026, it is truly a community yearbook where all of our events throughout the school year and all of the students at CHS are celebrated.
Yearbooks will be handed out next TUES, June 9th, and we will host yearbook signings straight through our SPIRIT DAY on THURS, June 11th.
