Craig School New Jersey

High School Newsletter

We are so looking forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School Night this Wednesday, September 21st.  And when we say families, we mean our parents who will have the opportunity to spend a little time in the classroom hearing from the teachers that your teen has every day but we also mean our students as well.  Back to School Night is our first student volunteer opportunity of the school year and any hours that they earn will count towards their annual required community service total (10 per school year).

Our evening will start in the gym where the doors will open at 6PM. Suggested parking is along the left side of the building or in the back behind the gym.  We will have a couple tables set up for you.  One, where you will pick up your name tag and schedule and the other the student-run senior bake sale!   It is our 12th graders’ first fundraiser of the year so all of your support is so appreciated.  Our seniors will throw in a free cup of coffee or bottle of water with every Craig purchase!  PACS will also be on hand to share how you can be involved in our parent organization.  Then the mic makes its way to me and I will walk you through how your evening will unfold.  Then, it's off to classes for our parents!  The evening should wrap up around 8 PM.  If you haven’t already, please

RSVP to Mrs. Maas (

Also next week, we will be testing our school's Parent Outreach Call System that we use for school closings and school-wide messages on Monday, September 19th at 7PM.  If you do not get the test call on Monday evening, please email Mrs. Maas ( Tuesday morning and share with her the phone number that you should have received the outreach call on and we will check our system to make sure that number is in there and in there correctly.

Craig High Celebrates National MilkShake Day: In 1885 the first milkshakes were introduced and they were a little different from the milkshakes of today.  They were a mixture of egg, whiskey, and spices but by the 1900s with the invention of the blender, they evolved into the delicious kid-friendly treat we know today.  This past week, Craig High celebrated National Milkshake Day, and thanks to two of our seniors, Luke and Josh, and two handy blenders we created a variety of Milkshakes ranging from Birthday Cake to Crushed Oreo to an Almond Milk version for our lactose intolerant crowd!

CSHS Senior Brady Accepted to Beacon College: We are so proud to share that Craig High 12th grader Brady has been accepted to Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida. Beacon College offers both Bachelors and Associate's degrees in many exciting programs including Anthrozoology, Business management, Computer Information, Human Services, Humanities, Psychology, and Studio Arts. Brady attended Beacon’s Summer for Success program and lived on campus in the dorms for three weeks. He had a great summer getting to know the school and living the college life while participating in some exciting classes and activities! For any other students interested in this program, Beacon will host a virtual information session later this fall, so stay tuned for more information.

Badger Cross Country Hit the Road:  The Badger X-Country team started up their fall season this past week with its largest group of runners in years!  Our team is headed up by a quadruplet of seniors who will be leading our team all season.  We are finalizing our 5K race schedule and have a cross country meet set for mid-October with another area HS.  There is still time for any interested runners to join us.  Just reach out to Coach Crum at or students can swing by room 104.

DROP IN OPEN OFFICE HOURS with Dr. Loftin, Head of School

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday- LS/MS Campus  2:00pm -3:00pm

Thursday - High School Campus - 2:00pm- 3:00pm

These hours are open for parents to schedule a meeting, drop in and discuss any issues or concerns or to just say hello.

Craig School Emergency Contact System:  The Craig School uses a multi-tiered communication system that provides to our families, the highest level of certainty that you are made aware of any change in the opening or closing status of Craig Lower Middle School and Craig High.  Our various communication tiers include:

  • Craig Notification Call System:  The Craig Notification call is a voice activated system so you need to say HELLO once and allow the system to activate.  If you say HELLO followed by another HELLO in rapid succession, the system will not activate and not start the recorded message.  If you are unable to take the call, it will leave a message.
  • School Email Blast:  We will send out an email blast to all of our families and students.  Keep in mind that emails are dependent on the internet so if that’s down, so are emails.
  • Text  Dr. Cap:  As a last resort to check school status, you can always text Dr. Cap at (973)534-9054.

All absences, late arrivals or early pick-ups should be reported to our main office.  Please send an email to OR call 973-334-1234     x 300 before 8:00 a.m.
